Progress
Over the past nine years, the Corporate Women in Leadership Summit (CWILS) has grown into a dynamic platforms for empowering women in leadership. Since its inaugural event in 2016 at Pullman Douala Rabingha Hotel, Cameroon, under the theme “Empowering Women in Leadership”, each edition has ignited fresh conversations and deeper engagement. From Cameroon to Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and back, CWILS has championed bold themes—from “The Alpha Woman” to “Cracking the Leadership Code”. Participation has grown steadily, starting with 183 attendees and increasing by 8% annually—testament to its growing impact. In 2023, the summit hosted over 365 attendees at Best Western Hotel, Douala. Each year, the summit features high-impact speakers, strategic networking, and mentorship opportunities. The 2024 edition, themed “Alpha Woman: Crushing Leadership Myths”, promises to be the most powerful yet. CWILS continues to inspire action, elevate voices, and reshape leadership across Africa.

In 2016, CWILS proudly launched its very first summit at the charming Pullman Douala in Cameroon, centred around the inspiring theme of “Empowering Women in Leadership.” With an enthusiastic turnout of 183 participants, this event marked the exciting start of a transformative journey. It truly set the stage for CWIL’s mission—creating a vibrant community of courageous and inspired African women dedicated to leadership and meaningful change. The summit offered engaging sessions, enriching mentorship, and valuable new connections, empowering everyone to embrace their strength and take bold strides in their careers.
2nd
In 2017, CWILS joyfully expanded to Cameroon and Gabon, welcoming an inspiring group of 198 participants! Centred around the theme “Empowering Women in Leadership,” it provided valuable insights, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Women came together to share their real-life experiences and practical strategies for overcoming challenges in traditionally male-dominated spaces. This edition truly strengthened CWIL’s vision for regional impact and beautifully showcased that African women are ready to lead with confidence and courage in every industry and boardroom.

Held in the beautiful countries of Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire, CWILS 2018 brought together 213 enthusiastic women ready to make a difference. Embracing the theme, “Empowering Women in Leadership,” the summit was an excellent opportunity for forging new friendships and engaging in meaningful conversations. With vibrant panels and interactive sessions, participants dove into the leadership journey, addressed challenges to growth, and celebrated their successes. This edition truly advanced CWIL’s mission to connect women across regions and transform African leadership landscapes.

CWILS 2019 welcomed 231 enthusiastic attendees in the vibrant settings of Senegal and Cameroon. Centred around the inspiring theme of “Empowering Women in Leadership,” the summit delved into identity, innovation, and resilience. Women courageously shared their impactful stories and strategies, fostering a sense of community and support. This event not only strengthened CWIL’s presence in Francophone Africa but also created invaluable learning experiences and expanded the network of African women who are eager to claim their rightful place at the forefront of various industries and regions.

CWILS 2020 transitioned to a virtual format during the pandemic, bringing together 249 participants! Even from a distance, the energy was vibrant. The summit focused on resilience, well-being, and digital leadership, highlighting the incredible contributions of African women who led the discussions. This experience showcased CWIL’s adaptability and strengthened its mission of empowering individuals through connection, mentorship, and collaborative growth—even when faced with challenges.

We were thrilled to welcome 269 participants back in person for CWILS 2021 at Akwa Palace! The inspiring theme, “The Alpha Woman Walks the Talk,” encouraged everyone to embrace authenticity and take meaningful action. This edition, filled with real stories, practical tips, and insightful strategies, empowered attendees to step up and shine. It also represented an outstanding renewed commitment to helping African women confidently own their power and lead with pride.

Held at the beautiful Krystal Palace, CWILS 2022 brought together 290 inspiring participants to explore the theme “Alpha Woman: Strategies for Growth.” This uplifting summit centred on fostering clarity, boosting confidence, and nurturing connections. Attendees left with practical strategies to enhance their leadership journeys, supported by engaging panels, heartfelt stories, and valuable mentorship. It was a transformative edition, reinforcing CWIL’s commitment to empower African women to flourish and succeed.

At Best Western Hotel Douala, CWILS 2023 welcomed 314 amazing participants under the inspiring theme “Cracking the Leadership Code.” This summit joyfully dismantled outdated views of leadership and encouraged women to define what success means to them personally. It nurtured deep reflection, vibrant networking, and meaningful personal breakthroughs, reinforcing CWIL’s important role in reshaping leadership narratives across Africa.
9th
CWILS 2024 gathered a fantastic group of 339 participants at the welcoming Elite Offices Akwa. With a vibrant theme of “Crushing Leadership Myths,” this event challenged stereotypes and celebrated the diverse leadership styles that make us unique. Through uplifting panels and heartfelt personal stories, the summit inspired African women to step up and embrace their authentic leadership journeys. It beautifully showcased that when women come together to support one another, myths fade away, and powerful legacies also emerge.
